Hey there! My name is Derks. I’m such a sweet, fun little guy, but I’ve had it rough. My former owner passed away, and I was left with nowhere else to go. The shelter can be a new and scary place for little guys like me. On top of everything else, my teeth were really sore, and needed to come out. I’ve had the chance to settle in now, and I’ve had surgery to fix my teeth. Now that I’m feeling better I’m really starting to come out of my shell! I like hanging out with the staff and getting pets. I also really enjoy my walks outside and even meeting some new dogs! But as fun as all this is, what I would really like most is a home to call my own. I don’t really belong in a kennel. I should be in someone’s lap, or next to them on the sofa. Maybe we can take walks in the park, or have a lazy afternoon watching Animal Planet. Whatever we do is fine with me, as long as you’re there. So, don’t let an adorable guy like me pass you by.
