Age Appropriate Lessons and Field Trips to Shelter Available!
The Lawrence County Humane Society offers a Humane Education Program to pre-schools, elementary schools, scouts and organizations. Lois Winter and her Therapy Dog, Gunner, are available to come to your location free of charge. (Donations from our Wish List will gladly be accepted.)
Program Length – From 1/2 hour to 1 hour depending on lessons chosen.
Basic Lesson Includes:
- What the Humane Society Does
- What A Therapy Dog Does
- How to Choose the Right Pet
- How to Take Care of Your Pet
- What is Neglect and Abuse?
- How to be Safe Around Dogs

- “Sweet Pea” the Cat Multiplies
- Annual Cost of Owning a Pet
- Careers Working with Animals
